the things we did in
the ruins of forebears
along rapids back then,
scaling backwalls by
the falls with flowers
in our heads
like those tools left out
in the rain, my friend
blood washed to rust in
our time flowing over
to the big river in
concrete broken gutters
now we are bloodless
again
now we are again

Again and again. I keep writing that in my poetry, this idea of patterns, but you do it so much better than I do.

I don’t know about that. You’re very good yourself. 💙

For me this reads as a reflection on youth – the ideas and ideals that we follow/cling to/crave pushing on regardless of consequence – only to look back with disillusionment as we realise that we all fall to rust/dust.
Great piece
Thanks. It certainly was part of the influence in writing this piece. 🙂
