While all of the good people out there are celebrating this or that tribal victory, I’m just paranoid enough that I wonder what fresh hell has been triggered while the celebrations go on.

I mean, everyone is acting like the rules have not changed from a dozen years ago. The bottom has fallen out of “normal” — whatever that would once meant.

And I definitely don’t trust the quiet calm and the shifting of levers. Outrage, bellicose rants I expected. Quiet calm means someone is waiting. There is always a calm before the storm.

Those who know what I mean will know what I mean. It’s not wise to say the obvious part out loud right now.

All of the tension I was holding inside started leaving me. Until the quiet came.

Now my muscles have clenched as if granite and I have grown deeply afraid.

    I know what you mean, Michael. I guess day by day is the way to go. Tenterhooks aren’t a great place to be, but someday you’ll be able relax again. Hang in there.

        ‘Thoughts and prayers’ is, I believe, the appropriate term? What many are rooting for. 🩷

          Oh goodness, how I greatly dislike that hollow platitude…

          There are some phrases that could fade into obscurity and I’d not shed a single bitter tear. That is one. Another is the misuse of the word “hoax” for anything someone disagrees with.

            Yes, I’ve seen it used far to often, in place of any sincere feeling; irony intentional here! And ‘hoax’, yes, along with so-called ‘cancelling’ anyone who doesn’t agree with you. Language is so twisted at times in this age. 😐

    The King is dead, long live the King.

    It’s almost as if it were scripted: just as a resolution appears so something even worse happens to drag the audience to the edge of despair. Then, as the ending looms on the horizon, there is always the cliff-hanger, the ‘will they, won’t they’, and the threat of the sequel.

    Call me a cynic, but your concerns have solid foundations.

      As I said, over the past decade I’ve learned that there is no bottom; there’s always someone (often the same person) willing to plunge even greater depths of depravity.

    Pretty sure the whole “Vito” thing is what will start happening now. Everything will end up frozen, as per usual whenever there’s a switch in powers. Poor people like me will lose everything in that process.

      The talk of “breaking some skulls” is a good first indicator. Everyone loses when people in power think in those terms.

        IDK, all I know is that the last time Americans switched around people in positions of power, my food stamps were shut off and delayed like all other recipients, and I couldn’t eat enough and fell and bumped my head. Pretty sure it was at the end of their political stand-still. There were other factors leading to the fall, like medication that didn’t go together well. But I had been on the same meds and doses for like years. I hadn’t had problems with dizziness or falling, until I didn’t have enough food to eat. I’d prefer to not have my “skull broke” during this next round of the “both sides are the bad guys and pointing fingers” political horror-dramedy.
