This reminds me of an old greeter at Meijer who walked with a cane and sat in one of the carts at the door, saying, “Hello, welcome to Meijer.” He seemed pretty happy just greeting people, as if it were something he cherished. Like it was something that fueled his life force.

Wouldn’t it be great to have that kind of energy ourselves? I’m probably too brooding anymore to pull it off, although I used to try to manage a similar energy when I was a managing barista at a cafe. It can be infectious when done well.

😊 it’s nice to give & receive a genuine smile and greeting. I remember when I was little 5 or 6 I would wish every stranger in town a Merry Christmas & Happy New Year because I loved spreading love & cheer. I soon learnt to shut down, as from a 5 year old it’s cute but if it’s a teen or adult you are clearly “after something”. With age I have learned to reopen with cautious discretion. Ugh that got dark, sorry 😅 but you have a genuine smile & hello from me 👋

And I gladly embrace, accept and return it!

Yeah, the prevailing attitude when you show kindness is that you must have an ulterior motive these days. I am belligerent in that respect and try to be pleasant and kind to people anyway. It’s my little act of rebellion, I suppose.

      Thanks 💙
