a murder outside and
a drive-by suicide
laughing, what a joke
waiting for red fox
waiting for red show
chewing on that razor wire
where did you think
you might go?

Randell Flagg
😂 Good point.
I can’t think about a crow without The Stand coming to mind. 🐦⬛
I can understand that.
🤔 It just occurred to me that crows made a number of appearances in the Dark Tower series, all in places when Flagg was present under one name or another. Specifically, I am thinking of the hanging scene of the cook (who followed The Good Man, aka Flagg) when Roland was young. I probably should read the Concordance one of these days and it will probably point that out too.
Watched The Dark Tower but haven’t read the books.
They’re a fun cross-genre epic journey that pulls in from some of his other titles along the way. Imagine Clint Eastwood’s “Blondie” mixed with King Arthur, mixed with a post-apocalyptic tale with vampires and “walk-ins” and you have the general idea of the story. Little horror, mostly a scifi-western-fantasy.
The movie had no business calling itself “The Dark Tower”: it was a confusing mess of the story that missed so many elements. Plus it is impossible to make 7 books into a single movie. If it would have stuck to the first book, and played it straight, it would have done a much much better job. I would have even forgiven some of the director’s choices if they had even tried to keep to the original storyline. But it was a hot mess compared to the books. As films based on books generally are.
I may have to give the books a try. The movie was…. a lot.
“Hot mess” is how I described it to my daughter as the credits rolled. She was very unimpressed.
Agreed. Even Matthew McConaughey couldn’t safe it for me.
I like Idris Alba, he’s a great actor and he’s got charm. He does not, however, pull off the nameless gunslinger role. And the script was half-baked all the way through. It was a crime, really. I hope Mike Flannigan can get the television series off the ground. Even though he’ll likely alter the story, his other limited television series based on several classic horror novels have been superb.
Alba is a good actor as well. I wasn’t very aware of his work when I watched the movie. But have learned more about him.
I’ll have to keep an eye out for that series. Thanks.
Killing it! 😎
