An excellent, extremely talented WordPress writer that I am honored to number as one of my good friends is encountering some major hurdles involving her health and a radical, unexpected life change, both of which are increasing the symptoms of her chronic illness due to the related stresses.
If you have a moment, please go to Jenn’s site and read about some of the details of what she is going through. I know more about the details of the unexpected life changes that she is experiencing, but it is not my place to share that information.
She could use a crowdsourced solution if one is forthcoming, so if you know anybody who could help Jenn with her growing crisis or know where she might be able to find some assistance (funding, assisted living solutions, etc.) please leave your thoughts in the comments below (comments are turned off on her post, with good reason).
Please limit suggestions below to those “outside of the box” and please don’t offer up unverified “guesses”, no matter how well-intentioned. If you have solid answers those are always appreciated. She’s already tried to seek help from the more obvious and even some of the less obvious options, and has come up largely empty-handed.
Please feel free to reblog this post if you think your audience might be able to help out Jenn. The more people who know about what she is dealing with, the more likely a solution will present itself.

Michael, thank you so much for sharing this. I appreciate you so much. 🖤
If it helps you get the help you need, I’m happy to do what I can for a friend. 💙
🙏
Thinking about you, Jenn. Hang in there,
Dear Michael! I wish I could help your friend, but I can’t. Sending best wishes for a solution to her health issues. 🙏 X
Thanks, Sharon. I know there are no easy answers, which is why I’m reaching out.
Thank you for being there for a friend and bringing a fellow poet’s extreme challenges to our attention. I will reach out to a social worker friend and see if they have any suggestions.
Thank you very much Michele. Different perspectives are always valuable in situations like these. Fingers crossed… 💕
Heartbreaking to read about what Jenn is going through. Too many hoops for people to jump through, which can be impossible when health is compromised. I sent an email with a summary and will follow-up with Jenn should I learn of anything helpful. Thank you for stepping up and reaching out on Jenn’s behalf. 💝
Thanks again, Michele ❤️
I’m appalled to read of what Jenn is going through, Michael, and the chaotic bureaucracy she’s faced with must be sending her stress levels through the roof. There’s no practical issue I can help with, living in another country, but I hope somebody comes up with something for her. So sorry.
No worries. There are limits to what most of us can do, but it’s my hope that we’ll find her someone who has fewer limits by shouting it out.
Dang, rough spot to be in… Sorry to hear it. The only advice I’ve got is, don’t give up and stay organized. Keep bugging people, the squeaky wheel gets the grease.
Also, write down the names of people you talk to in organizations and ask when you should check back with them. Then do that… Keep doing that…they eventually get annoyed and help. It’s easy to pass the buck to another, when nonprofits and systems are not interconnected. People fall through the cracks… It’s more difficult to ignore the one’s who don’t go away when they try to pass them down the stupid line that circles back around to the same starting place.
Hope things work out.
I’ve given her situation(s) some thought and may have a few ideas. If she’s willing to email me? I know health care and public systems stuff, I’m just unprofessional as hell and rough around the edges. I’d need basic info like what State she’s in, the reason for potential loss of housing, and the type of housing (rental or mortgage). Nothing personal, just generalize info so I can look into anything that could be of use- like programs, laws, and organizations. I still have access to some databases and can look beyond the average person. Anyway… I’m here if she needs me.
I’ll pass it on. The reason for loss of rental housing actually is a very personal matter that I am not at liberty to divulge. She’s in Michigan. If that’s enough information, you can drop anything you find here and I’ll make sure she gets it. Otherwise I will pass on your general assistance offer to her as well. Thanks!
By reason for loss of housing, I don’t mean to offend anyone. It’s more of a question of what type of housing and whether it has the potential to be stabilized by one for of assistance over another. There’s programs in some areas to prevent homelessness, others offer renter’s a lawyer for eviction court, some help cover mortgage payments, etc… Others help relocate people who have been harmed by someone. I just need to know what programs she’d qualify for so it’s not a wild goose chase.
I’ll have to have her contact you if she’s interested in divulging that information. Thanks.
