i wonder if a part if me
is lost there on the path
seeking blaze left behind
either to or away from
recalling both nervous
and tremble hands
she wore over coffee
at the allnight café
cigarettes smoke
staining the dim lights
as stained as either's
reputations unsaved
i wonder if this dying
had any point at all
save for another branch
lost on a meandering path
leading towards
redemption or none

A wonderful piece, Michael, with great imagery. I like the idea you allude to of life growing like a tree, branching out into ever thinning branches reflecting how choices and opportunities become fewer and past possibilities more blatant.
Excellent.
Thank you Chris. 🙏🏼
Wonderful. Maybe part of you is there, if the multiverse is out there.
It’s seeming as if I was not meant to know for certain. 🙂
Easy is the descent to Avernus
The water is deep and without spoil
To recall the dive and rise towards the light of day
This is the task; this the toil
We make our own hells at times.
