getting old is when
you've lived too long
after folks once laid odds
on if you'd see
twenty-nine
it feels like
some kind of old
a very steel grey
kind of day
some kind of old

May sound a bit odd but what you write doesn’t make you seem ‘old’ in the sense that you don’t churn out a load of ‘dum-de-dum’ poetry or regurgitate ‘popular’ trash fiction.
Thought for the day: an old soul is a wise soul!!!
I think I get where you are coming from, so it isn’t odd.
My goal with my writing is to try and reach beyond the horizon. “Dum-de-dum” poetry and pop fiction are often well received by audiences, but they often fail to say anything that hasn’t already been said before. Language should be alive, not cordwood stacked neatly in pretty piles. Sometimes it grows in odd ways, ugly ways, but I’ll take that over perfectly stacked dead stuff any day.
I don’t know how wise this soul is. He keeps making the same mistakes over and over, possibly for several lifetimes (if you’re into that kind of thing).
I think you’ve pretty much grasped what I was clumsily trying to say…which goes a little way towards explaining why I’m trying to move a little bit away from ‘poetry’ (in the loosest sense) back to prose. I really want to try to avoid repeating myself (too often!). I’d worry when you stop making mistakes!
I make plenty of them, to be certain! 🤣
You and me both, then 🤣🤣
