Something about the darkness, the cold and dull, which stirs the creative soul. In a way I miss it in the summer (just hit the low 30’s (°C) over here – a bit much really).
Great piece Michael.
Thanks Chris. While I love autumn and winter, with spring in close second, I’m definitely not built for the kind of summers we’re going to be seeing in the coming days: Heat indexes of 105°F (40°C) or more. It’s very unMinnesotan and I think I may just sit in the cold basement with my central air on. Screw the real world.
No, and I’m not sure how you cope with the extremes where you are. These days our winters rarely fall much below 0° and likewise summers don’t go over 30° often.
Give me spring or autumn!
It didn’t used to be quite so extreme. The occasional two to five days a year of the high temps, a week or so in February of the extreme low stuff with everything mostly middling between. The past twenty years or so, the weather has gotten less consistent.
Apparently there’s something called ‘global warming’. I’ve heard that the powers that be on your side of the water aren’t sure it’s a thing! 😂
Yes, same here regarding temperatures.

Rained most of the day here too. Good day to make it to the movies. And have those dreams in the dark theater.
I miss the big old theaters. The complexes are not nearly so powerful of an experience when the film is amazing.
But I also miss drive-in theaters 🤣
I did get to see the movie yesterday in an old theater. I saw the Phoenician Scheme. I miss drive-ins too!
Very cool. What did you think of the movie? Thumbs up, down or hovering in the middle?
I liked it. I got hooked on Wes Anderson movies after seeing The Life Aquatic. This may not be his best. But really good.

Autumn, b/c fewer bugs. 🙂

You just shush!
The “powers that be” are playing three dimensional Yahtzee on a regressive chess board because one of them ate all of the chess pieces…
That’s some serious mad skill!
I had noticed!!!
