who dares mount up &
enjoin the winding path?
ravens laugh in the ashes
at a joke few will perceive —
a snare that's already sprung
While I don’t plan to go back to doing daily rune poems as I did at sceadugenga.com, every once in a while I might randomly pick one and see what comes out of my head, just to keep the wheels greased. Today’s was ehwaz. At its core, it has been given the meaning “horse” which, in turn, leads a multitude of other associations including that of fylgja — which is synonymous with the concept of a totem spirit. I imagine the ravens laughing at any notions I might have about control, much as they laugh about most of the things I think I “know”.
So it goes…

Hmm. I’ve been wearing that rune on my pulse point this week. It was the first I got when tossing. I would have loved to have read your daily poems about the runes. This is great!
That detail is interesting and (I won’t lie) amusing.
There are, apparently some 300+ still viewable if you want to have a go at it:

I can’t promise that they are all that great. All were very improvised.
Well, I can’t say I’m amused necessarily, but I am watching those silly birds circling my head more closely now. Happy to amuse- I think. Yes, thank you. I followed the link in your post and found a very epic former blog of yours. Improvised is the best poetry and concerning the runes, I think we all find out it wasn’t improvised at all, eventually.
That’s only half of the blog. I wiped the other half a few years ago to clear out and reset a bit.
You’re probably right. Again, I think I am improvising and it is probably nothing of the sort.
I wish I had my ravens still… Occasionally one will drop by, but mostly we have crows, so I ask them to pass things on for me.
Crows do love to gossip. I do similar a thing where I just wipe things clean to reset. It’s relieving somehow. I feel lucky the rune poems are still up then. You could be just as right. I love holding faith for myself and others, anyhow. I am currently fleshing out studying the runes more seriously. I have to follow those signs and symbols that resonate. It’s a joy, though. I appreciate your former work, much!
Thank you very much. You are too kind.😌
And… you haven’t demanded a refund for my book. Always a plus when that doesn’t happen… 😅
Yet, anyway.
Your book was delayed in transit yesterday and is to arrive today, which was funny to me because Odin’s day is Wednesday and He was making a point. I don’t understand the ends and outs of that point currently, but I know I will!
I’ve only ever returned one book-even though it taught me a valuable lesson that some that claim to be Heathen are something other entirely.
You’ll have to let me in on that when you figure it out. Although… Thurs >> Thurisaz >> Thorn… yep. It fits. 😁
It does fit. Delightful! Journey and Change. Let the rabbit hole begin, I guess. Fun! Thank you for the relation.
I’ve just come through the thorn and now am in the comforting protection of ehwaz. All of it a journey, even when distruction and chaos. Your book will be comforting to me, I gather. An asset.
I hope so. Looking forward to hearing your impressions when you get a chance.
Sounds like you’ve landed with both feet on the ground. 🙂
I have a question that I just need to get out of the way but its personal and I dont aim ti embarrass you or I. You can delete it maybe?
Use my contact form. If it is embarrassing, then it won’t be visible to anyone else and I’ll reply via email.
I think it sent. Thank you.
