Amen! Friends and I were having a version of this conversation yesterday. Everyone seems to be so angry. Hostile. And have quick fuses. It doesn’t seem to take anything to upset us and we let the world (via social media) know just how upset we are.
There is not much point to try and have meaningful discussions when everything becomes “fighting words”. Even discussion about the weather seems to give cause to argue and be angry.
Anger is soul and life sucking. Lately, I walk away from people and situations that make me angry, instead of engaging. At first, it was hard. Now, it’s essential to mind and body health.
I think we live in a world that is more and more frustrating for everyone. We want it to be different but then we get out there and it’s the same pressures for all of us. Everyone’s in a hurry. Everyone has tasks they wish they didn’t have to do. We’re all strapped for time and love. The world doesn’t care. Hate, anger, and frustration are infectious. It’s so important to settle down, try to understand, try to forgive. Try to smile. Take time to be kind, even when it isn’t reciprocated. Understand that we’re all suffering because we’re all running on the same wheels. And sometimes, just take a break.
I agree. Mostly, we need to work on our empathy and understand that most folks are just trying to get by and barely succeeding (or not). People are people, to appropriate Depeche Mode.
If we can take a moment to empathize, most of the reasons for anger are irrelevant. Except when someone is intentionally practicing cruelty and bullying, which I won’t excuse. Ever. Then anger is justified, but reciprocation with the same behavior is circular reasoning that eats its own.
I do not like bullies. And they’re out there. A lot of them. They do it to get what they want. It also doesn’t help when our current administration thrives on divisiveness. Also how they get what they want. I’m dreaming of an era where we all wake up and choose peace and love for a while. It’s happened before. It’s not common, but it’s happened before. It’s up to us.

So true.
Smile and walk away (wherever possible)
If you are allowed to.
Point taken.
Baffling. Like Chris wrote, best to distance oneself.
I’d certainly like to see less of it all around.
😌👍🏻

Agreed. It’s too energy-sapping to engage.

Got an hour?
Neither do I so I walk on! ❤️
Send a sensible way of dealing with fools with an anger management problem 🙂
