dizzy for the ringing
we shambled to heartwood
sought our way to breathing
taking in the place where
we are already beautiful
if only we can shed skin
and cast off our rags
others have bound us
within
if trees accept us
as we are, can we
accept the trees?

Wonderful piece, Michael. We find ourselves trapped inside a shell of other’s making – one which is initiated in childhood – and is hard to break free from. Acknowledgement is the first step.
As you say; look to the trees.
This resonates strongly.
Thanks Chris. As I’ve mentioned, I’m recently fixated on this idea of authenticity as part of my exploration into “rewilding” my spirit.
Part of that is letting go of those things.
Keyword: authenticity. 🙂
Very much so.
Breathtaking. This makes my heart leap with joy to feel and read. I feel reverent in it- for you, the author, me the reader, and the child that so loves the trees and is loved by them, too, without shame. Healing. Thank you, Michael.
Thank you very much. Whew! I appreciate you saying so. 💕
My pleasure.
Let’s hope so!! Shedding this old skin sounds good.
Agreed. Time to find new layers in this onion.
