All that remain

There are times that there is only empty. You could not understand.

Everything ash. Everything dust. You could not understand.

I am weary of silence, but there is no mouth with which to speak to the missing ears which could never hear. You could not understand.

Rivers run my blood in tears from void for eyes, screaming blind. You could not understand.

This is a limbo, something you could never understand.

Piercing pinions stretched for all the night. You could not understand.

That I miss your lips and their wine… You could not understand.

Ribbons are all that remain.

This is a great description for how it feels to fall through my empties in The Moon is Too Bright. It is of course your work and not for mine. It still sums it up and I wish I’d had it when I was working on that. I enjoy your perspective and your poetry more all the time, Michael. Thanks for that.

Thank you. If only the right words could be found when we need them most. 😉

So evocative. That’s where poetry beats prose.

I think prose can be evocative when it gets out of it’s own way. Same as when people write poetry. Most of the time we overexplain things, afraid that someone might miss the point. Sometimes the point isn’t the one we think it is as the author.

I have certainly noticed that-what I think is important VS what others think is important. I imagine we’re both correct.

The repetition (one of my favorite writing tools) works to give this a rhythm that feels almost like a heartbeat. I’m watching Attack on Titan right now so it sort of fit that mood for me-hope in the face of extreme situations.

Thanks, Bridgette. One of these days I might have to give AoT another go. I recall liking it and then got distracted like I so often do when it comes to television. For some reason I have a hard time watching the television, probably due in no small part to my rejection of watching television (mostly) since the mid-90s.

Both my kids told me it’s worth it in the end with how many insane reveals it has. Supposedly an incredible story that hides truth right out front, but makes you wait for it, so when it comes you are blown away. I’m only on the first season, but I’m intrigued, and if both my kids are so into something, I have to watch it.

You’ll have to let me know what you think.
