bramble gate

down along that night river
just a wee drink to forget
boots wet at the bank
with these soles worn thin

maybe, baby, i'm never
gonna find my way back
from this bramble gate
cos two coins, i have, and
some lives like mine are
bought on the cheap

cats laughing in lead*
as they swap laps, boiling
from red vinyl seats
in a wrinkled mirror—
searing way down

already, i am ready
to burn october, and
maybe, baby, i don't
want to find my way
back to the place
where i come from

* the Pb type; ask Robert Plant about it if confused

Very lyrical, and quite Bluesy. Very Plant. Never bumped into him – not sure whether he still lives around here – but my wife has a couple of times. And our son once shared a stage with Plant’s .

Funny. I wasn’t trying to channel him, but now that you mention it, I can see it.

I just recalled their reasoning behind spelling it Led, because Americans would always mispronounce it otherwise. 🤣

Love the ending. After all this hot, humid temps, October is sounds something wonderful.

We had an all-too-short spell of late September weather. That hot crap is returning starting tomorrow evening. sigh

I maybe need to move further north. I’m not built for this.

In general Canada is sounding pretty good right now.

I’ll have to consider it, or a variation of it. Parts of it may work using my new instrument. I have to get better before I tackle that, however.
