casting runes — 01dec25

mannaz
flint to flesh
scars to wash the blind
she waits on blood to briar
to staunch the stinging
with her coldstone kiss

A poem prompted by a randomly selected Elder Futhark rune.

Today’s rune is mannaz, a rune that translates to “man” in the sense of “humankind”. The rune is associated with family and the social order, and in trusting the intuitive process or seeing clearly — both from within and from without. Mannaz influences relationships of all kinds, including those of a romantic nature and encourages compassion, for oneself as well as for others.

Please visit my Elder Futhark pages at sceadugenga.com for additional interpretations of the runes based on multiple references and personal reflection.

      Thanks once again. 😊

Have you been posting on Soundcloud again as well? Or just sticking to the WordPress platform?

I can’t even figure out how to post there anymore. 😂 I’m very tech challenged to begin with. They’ve sent me over the top

😂 Oh well. Guess we’ll just have to find a way for you to post audio someplace, if and when you get up the gumption to do it.

[psst — Soundcloud gives me headaches at times too, so it’s not just you]

Good it’s not just me 😜

If you do have a suggestion let me know. I refuse to pay for WordPress 😂 so that’s out.

Give me a couple of days to check out a few things. I was using Anchor (?) by Spotify (it’s been rebranded as Spotify for Creators) on occasion a while back and treating spoken pieces as podcasts because you can embed on your site for free and I think it is still hosted on Spotify for free. That might be an option, but it might be convoluted to get it going because of the distribution network.

Audio hosting is one of the reasons I left a WP-hosted blog and went third-party for this site. I didn’t need fancy, but I didn’t want to pay for the privilege to share my self-generated audio (spoken word or music).

Take your time, no one really needs to hear my voice. It tends to be broken and uneven. 🤷‍♀️I might repost something though. For old times sake 😂

I’m curious as to the options out there, so I’ll look into it.

The pieces I heard you perform were fine. Maybe there was some performance anxiety present, but that can be gotten rid of with performing/recording more frequently. It might also have something to do with how you were recording the pieces and any post-production you did (I assume it was minimal; for most people online, post-production is).

I’ll look for your repost 😊

I’m not sure about performance anxiety, I’ve actually not thought of it as a performance before. I think it has to do with what I was recoding it on, my lack of skill with that and my emotion and emotional cadence.
I don’t know that I’d have it any other way though 🤷‍♀️

I understand. Either way, I’m always up for hearing more. Thanks for [re]posting “bone in”.

I believe my old account (s) still exist…I can repost one of you’d like, just to get to the site again

        1. michael raven Avatar

If that’s what you’d like to do, I’ll take advantage of it.

I think I still have you linked to my account there, so I just have to log in for the first time in forever. I think.

Love that ‘coldstone kiss’ – of death, perhaps? 🙂
