casting runes — 26sep25

algiz
ride that poison horse
down the medicine trail
stop all puppets, dancing ghost
to heartbeat driving
set these broken wings to flying
soaring out, i'm not gonna look back

A rune poem, based on an Elder Futhark rune selected at random.

Today’s rune is algiz, which may mean either “elk” (there is some uncertainty if this is the case) or yew (Old Norse). It is associated with the Otherworld, protection/sanctuary, and with guardian spirits/fylgja. The unconscious mind is sometimes associated with algiz.

Please visit my Elder Futhark pages at sceadugenga.com for additional interpretations of the runes based on multiple references and personal reflection.

If you keep this up you’re gonna make me find more under the volcano stuff. I believe this is the end of chapter eleven you’re channeling here. Yep. Opened right to it. Love it!

One of these days I might get around to reading that. 🙂

Please excuse my enthusiasm; I always get on this kick at this time of year, as we approach the Day of the Dead. I do think you of all the people I know would enjoy it. If you ever dip in, I recommend reading once for the story and then again with the Companion Guide by Chris Ackerley and Lawrence J. Clipper. The story works on its own but there’s just so many references to Dante, to Faust, to Milton, to the Kabbalah, even to Peter Rabbit. I could dive in again and again and learn something new each time.
