dreamtest bust

Just to follow-up on my little experiment, the results were a bust. That doesn’t disprove the idea that people can be connected by dream, it’s just that this particular case was not a mutually-shared experience.

Several salient details I wondered if I might hear about after posting:

  • The other person was tearful, looking at me through chestnut hair (maybe darker, but not black) with a wave or very loose curl (but not distinct curls) and at least shoulder length. The lighting was ruddy, so the color of the hair may have not had the red overtones, and it was dark in the theater, so their hair could have been dishwater blond, I suppose (maybe)
  • The section of the theatre we sat in was stripped of the fixed velvet chairs and people sat on rough pine-slat boxes jumbled next to us; our seats were set haphazardly compared to the rest of the theatre and not bolted down
  • Our seats were in the section directly under the stage, partially obscured by stage items and on the audience’s far right.
  • Their hands were on their knees. I patted the hand to my left (on their right knee) before I told them to watch what was happening onstage
  • I put that hand on my knee, patted it and assured them that things were going to be okay
  • The stage was dimly lit, dark red in tone and more shadowplay than directly visible acting
  • One limelight was illuminated, but pointing away from the action on-stage (audience left)

Because I didn’t see any responses yesterday that identified any of these details, I have to assume that the person has yet to come forth, or that no one experienced this dream, in spite of the strong sense otherwise.

Using Occam’s Razor (the simplest explanation it the most likely), I’m going with the latter — no one else experienced this dream — at least until someone mentions at least one of a handful of details still withheld.

This was actually the expected outcome, but I wanted to test the idea on the off-chance I was wrong about my expectations. Because there was a sense it was one of you who drop on by who was my companion in the dream, it seemed like a good opportunity to test the idea. I generally don’t dream about people I know unless I know them very well indeed. And, even then, I’m more apt to dream of unnamed strangers than I am to dream of anyone I know, especially casual acquaintances.

I generally take my more lucid dreams to be messages, rather than shared experiences. And, in combination with the dream that occurred just prior to the one I am asking about (and this might have been a continuation of), there is some sense to the meaning of the message after some reflection over the past 36 hours.

Thanks for responding and playing along with my experiment.

I enjoyed this experiment, I know that we have a shared collective that our souls & subconscious seems to be able to access. I think there should be more research into these things as they are fascinating 🤔 it was definitely worth trying!

I agree. It feels like a largely untapped area of research (except via anecdotal evidence without much structure). I was very interested in the mitochondrial studies along these lines, but I haven’t seen anything recently. Or, maybe it is just because I haven’t looked recently. Hmm.

Off topic: did you receive my response? Or did that end up binned with the rest of the junk again? Knowing my luck, it probably was 🤣 If something can be broken, I will find a way to break it just by walking into the room.

I did get it – just trying to find time to do a reply 😅 but you did not go to junk this time so yea for progress lol!

No rush, no worries. Just wanting to rejigger my thinking if needed. Those kinds of problems tend to be persistent in spite of efforts to squash them.

          I blame technogremlins.

            😅 I’ve dealt with a technogremlin earlier

Well… you could try and change the test. This wasn’t a test, it was a recollection. To test ludic dreaming, everyone picks a place they are able to visualize. Then go to sleep with that place in mind. Then… see if anyone else shows up. My friends and I used to try that one often. Just an idea…
