Question: why do you think it is these days that, when somebody puts something online which is quite clearly nonsense, swathes of the general populace seem to treat it is gospel? Have we lost the final vestiges of common sense?
I’ve increasingly wondered if “sense” is all that “common”.
I think the internet has largely just amplified the nonsense, but there have always been people who are willing to embrace such things.
We’re just discovering that there are more willing marks than previously thought.

Actually I didn’t. I think it was too far off to be effective for North America. Or seems we never get a full eclipse in Minnesota so it’s hardly worth fussing about when one happens.
Not as impressive as the one we had in ’99, sadly!
If Mother Earth (or Mother Universe) decided to shut that off and jettison us all from the surface there isn’t an entity around that would blame her.

Sooner or later she’ll stop giving us chances.

It might be fun flying for a few seconds. I always joke with the kiddos that flying is easy: You just throw yourself at the ground and miss.
