With great sadness, I confess that there are no new kitten pictures to share with you today. I assure you, we shall marshal onward for a full seven more weeks and, should I catch a glimpse of either cat on the horizon, I will assuredly share those visions with you.
Whether you care to or not.
But I do have news.
The rest of the family has accepted my submission of the names Grendel for the standard classic tabby norsk skogkatt (Norwegian forest cat) kitten and Grímnir for the piebald tabby norsk skogkatt kitten. Gren and Grimm for short, which ties in with the general fantasy/monster theme of our other cats.
Here, let me introduce them to you…
The Rogues’ Gallery

Rogue
Let’s start with the namesake of this list and currently our eldest cat — easily the biggest rascal of the bunch. He is a tabby rescue who is too bossy and curious for his own good, and it caused him to lose part of his tail to “misadventure”. To bring him down to size, we call him “Rogue-a-muffin” or “Rogue Halftail”.
Goblin
Rogue was a bit too much energy for the older resident cat when he was a kitten, so we picked up a calico short hair rescue to give Rogue a more frisky companion. She is a sweetheart with humans, but HATES other cats. From day zero. She’s a bit of a lovebug, if very klutzy and a little dumb. Yes — she put herself into the position you see with no human intervention.

Banshee
“Banshee-boo” is our other short-hair rescue and only a few weeks younger than Goblin. She is the Jeff to Rogue’s Mutt and you can be certain they are up to no good if they are prowling the living spaces together. Rogue is the brains and she is the willing lackey. They often gang up on Goblin together. Banshee earns her name with her meow, which has that monster-like keening to it.
Wraith
Wraith is our eldest Maine Coon (now only). This picture doesn’t do justice to his size, but he is pretty big for being “tiny”. He is a black tuxedo smoke and spans more than a meter/yard from tail to top of his head when stretched out. He is “only” 17 pounds/7.7 kg. He is our “scaredy cat” who turns aggressive if he sees workers with reflective vests (growls menacingly at them even when they are in the street). Who knows why he hates them so much?

Pixel
Pixel is named after the Cat Who Walked Through Walls (Heinlein) and he is a ragdoll. Maybe. He’s a bit small for one. And not as sedate as most ragdolls. At approaching four years of age, he has more energy than most kittens. He loves his cuddles, but only when he initiates them. The great thing is, he accepts that the feeling is not always mutual and lets it go if the vibe is not there. He is the baby of our crew and spoiled rotten.
There you have it. With Grendel and Grímnir, the gang will be “full up”.
Which one grabs your fancy the most?
No. You can’t have any of them. You are window-shopping only.
