Just to provide a very short update as to the situation in Minnesota, nothing has meaningful changed here on the ground with the switching of leadership (sic) personnel. The only cool-down we are witnessing is the cool-down of rhetoric from a corrupt administration realizing they made an unforced error by demonizing Alex Pretti, who was murdered in cold blood at the hands of masked thugs in flak jackets and carrying military-grade hardware for exercising TWO of his Constitutional rights (freedom of speech and the right to bear arms, the second of which, mind you he never removed from the holster and was never in his hand during the altercation). And that rhetoric is even ramping up again. Why? Because the Trump minions (and toddler in chief, Dotard Donnie, especially) are incapable of keeping their mouths shut when the best thing to do is just shut up.
Don’t believe the hype when they say that they are trying to bring down the temperature. That’s bullshit. They’re doing anything but.
These federal “agents” are so dim-witted that they tried to enter the Ecuadoran Consulate here in Minneapolis in the past forty-eight hours to terrorize the people within (Ecuadoran nationals and Consulate workers). Caught on camera, an Ecuadoran official reminds the agent trying to enter that the building is sovereign territory and he has no authority to come on premises without permission. The thug’s response? The agent tells the official that “if you touch me, I will grab you”. Who risks an international incident with that kind a bully-based threat? No one who has had any kind of “use of force” training, let me tell you that much. Or a basic education, maybe.
People are still being nabbed without judicial warrants. A judge had to threaten ICE leadership with contempt charges for not releasing a seized person as so court-ordered before they were finally released.
Protests continue. Administration officials are still trying to find a way to present the two murdered US citizens as violent radicals. ICE Barbie (Noem) is still spewing her bullshit talking points as presented to her by Nazi-whisperer Stephen Miller. And Minnesotans are still not putting up with any of it.
In the short few days since the most recent murder, Bruce “The Boss” Springsteen has immortalized these events in a new song, “The Streets of Minneapolis”. These shameful days are now marked by music, which often has a better memory than the people tasked with recording history.
I don’t even count Springsteen as an artist I remotely listen to except when on the air or over muzak. But he is increasingly rising in my estimation of him and he continues to stand against the rise of wannabe authoritarians on a pogrom parade marching in our midst.
No. In spite of what they want you to believe, it is business as usual here. Our neighbors and friends are still being terrorized for having skin a shade too dark to suit the preferences of those jackbooted thugs goosestepping their way through Minneapolis.
