mortal tethers

tonight, i give over
surrender to loam & peat
let mycelium feed while
slumbering between
bile & bog, briar & weed
betwixt both thorn & stone

slipping deeper,
even mortal tethers
may break

    let me rest too, between what grows and what refuses to grow any more, in a place that reeks of damp sea and wet skies.

    Love this poem, the aftertaste it leaves in my mouth–really well written <3

      Thank you very much, Ari — both for the callback response and for your kind words 💙

    Don’t let those mushrooms take over (kidding). Not gonna lie, laying down to rest in the woods does sound lovely.

      I wonder if I listen very closely that I could hear the fibers stretching as they grow. I wonder what songs they might sing as they do.
