Great imagery here. I always picture roads in the US countryside as long, straight causeways which stretch out into the distance, as opposed to the twisting, turning by-ways over here (ok, so I’m over-Romanticising a little) which disappear and then reappear sometimes revisiting their past journeys.
One for the imagination.
We have both. We had the winding roads until yesterday…. Today was filled with flat lands and roads that rarely curved. Granted, we’re still in Canada, but I can assure you that there is almost no difference 300 miles south of where we were driving in Alberta today, in North Dakota. Getting back stateside tomorrow!

Hope all is going well for the both of you.
I’ve enjoyed myself so far. But ready to stop driving. Whew, that’s a long haul.
Excellent Michael. Every word works to paint this picture. This longing to get away.
