I suppose it’s hard to dream with eyes open…but not impossible.

The closing line speaks volumes; kohl eyes a wonderful phrase to acknowledge melancholy, weariness and longing.
Very true. I wonder why that is. Thoughts?
Kohl – black so sadness, or to indicate bags from lack of sleep, but, more subtly, perhaps, the use of kohl to widen the appearance of eyes (tired = cartoon eyes, matchsticks) but also aa if to try and widen the search; to miss nothing. An image, perhaps, of someone on the outside gazing in. Lots of thoughts!
I’m going to have to see if someone has researched something along these lines. If I were in college and majoring in psychology, I might have to propose this as a study project.
Might even be better received than the chemicals produced from a decaying body left out in the sun in Minnesota. That one was nixed even though it stored my forensics focus.
I never understood why.
