here, the heroes
stand guard the pale
while at fives
while at nines
and under the sevens
unmoved by illusion
waiting in stillness
for those
who might find
their way home

I always liked mythology around stone circles – and I used to have a soft spot for thinking that they may be ancient guardians waiting to be awoken for a greater good.
