This morning I was able to identify the buggy element of the commenting system and now things seem to have settled down on the site in that respect. Or, rather, comments and WordPress.com integration have been behaving as expected all day and I’ll count that as a win.
Thanks everyone who lent a hand for your feedback and beta testing. Those include: Chris Nelson, Laura Lyndhurst, Jolene “Chico’s Mom”, Tara Caribou, Michele Lee, and Ted Wallenius. If I forgot anyone else, please let me know so I can add your name.
Without all of your inputs about the behavior you were experiencing on this site, I wouldn’t have been able to identify the problem. It shouldn’t have been a problem, of course, but it was. I feel all the angst that had been building up let go of me and go to find another victim.
Of course, I’ll keep my eyes open as I do more enjoyable tweaks to the looks and features. Please let me know if you encounter issues. If you have your browser set to block cookies at ravensweald, then please allow the site to set cookies — that may have been a contributor to the problems I was experiencing, although certainly not the cause. Any cookies I might personally use are stored locally for stats. WordPress and Google cookies are present to provide some of the functionality.
So what’s next?
Here are a few things I plan to add in the coming weeks and months here at ravensweald.com. If it all sounds busy, that is by design.
- Audio/readings of my poetry
- A page dedicated to or YouTube channel (or both) linking to the songs that catch my ear for the Towards the Within category of posts
- Posts and exploration dedicated towards elements of my spiritual journey
- Setting up a sub-domain for a forum if I can do it with what I consider to be essential security features. The sub-domain will add a degree of separation to support security and discourage spam
- More reading groups for this forum
- Community-building within this forum
- Set up a second subdomain to start working on a serialized bit of longer fiction designed to be more “book-like” in feel and navigation
- I plan to make an effort to take my time on the chapters to improve the quality of the storytelling, another reason to separate it from the normal blog/poetry/short forms
- Integrating my exploration into developing any possible latent skills i might have in art. And music.
- Other things that I have yet to discover?
I am hoping all this business will lead to more self-growth, both internally and externally. Thank you all for your support. There should be fewer of these administrative posts in the future.
