cool under leaf shadow
flicker of sun of shine
bright against black loam
stretching pale under
fibre and web and green
let detritus weave the hair
to carry back on den
today, i will fox and they
can pretend i am mad —
i will laugh because
laughter is easier
than arguing
instead:
i bark the night
with finger roots digging
flame through humus
i ring too-green lawns
come morning
burning naked
under cool leaf shadow

Like good intentions falling beneath the weight of reality – the solitary fox left to roam.
I have a vision of yourself as a fox – velvet waistcoat and pocket watch, a monocle held over one eye (the right) surveying the undergrowth, avoiding the light from the streets beyond, waiting for silence.
Apologies, I got a bit carried away for a moment!🦊🦊🦊Excellent. I wouldn’t mind that attire at all.
