tossing a rune — 16jun25

mannaz
tangled on wyrding
bonds stretched to strain
cairn flags flutter in
the winds set aflame

Another rune poem of mine, where the rune is selected at random.

Today’s rune is mannaz, which has a core meaning of “man”. The extension of the rune also includes “mankind” or “human”. Going further, some have interpreted this rune to mean rational thinking, family, social order and self-awareness.

Been drawing a lot of Thurses and Kauns, myself.

I’ve gone through periods of having that happen. Thurisaz especially likes to make its appearance on a regular basis.

The shoe fits for me – the Runes I draw most are, beyond what I wrote, Uruz, but also Calc & Ior from the A-S Fuþorc.

I’ll have to look those up. I am less familiar with the Anglo-Saxon runes. I always meant to get around to correcting that, but just haven’t been strongly motivated to do so lately.

Fair – the Elder Futhark is the universal solvent of Runes. The heritage component is what got me into them. I dabble in Armanen but should learn Long Branch.

    Is this your new spot?

Yes, I migrated to this domain a few months back. Having a different host than WordPress gives me much more flexibility with the site. I’ll probably retain the other domain name and bring it over to this host when hosting expires at the end of summer. Thanks for checking it out.
