listen:
were it that you could
hear these bones
being etched in
scrimshaw behind
my age-cured flesh
what might you see
if you could hear?
a great horned owl
scrying mantic in
the deepening night?
peat bog perfume
rising from what shadows
are left to remain?
what peels bark
behind blackthorn?
i gather flint
in scarred hands
along with ash and
charcoal black
to scratch louder
runes anew

Superbly framed in an excellent piece, Michael.
Thank you Chris. Much appreciated.
Always a pleasure…not to mention an inspiration.
Ahh that reminded me of your rune poems. What do you know, I miss them.
I needed a break to recalibrate. Chances are they will pop up again sometime in the future.
Looking forward to whatever you do, really.
Thanks. Much appreciated. A little of this. A little of that.
I used to read this poetry book to my kids when they were little about the sounds of the night. It hinted at the meaning of us all being connected. Your poetry always has that message in such a powerful way, always how do we fit amongst the creatures of the world.
Thank you Bridgette. That aligns with my thinking, interconnectivity. When we harm one we harm ourselves.
