Trigger warning: cuteness overload.
Yeah, we will go out with a bang. This is probably the last time I do this, so I elected to do it in style and agreed (after much pestering and cajoling) to get both of the kittens we were eyeballing.
As a reward, I was given pictures and a decent discount on the adoption price. These two pictures of fifteen were the only ones she felt were worth sending, but I’ll take them because these little guys are really shining in the photos.

More photos and I might get impatient, so… the breeder can send as many as she wants. Learning patience is a good thing. Right?
I like both for their differences. Grendel is all symmetry, stocky legs and biggish paws. Grímnir is a bit glitchy and got those cute little mitts (along with that pink nose).
I got to thinking a bit and decided that I’m going to stop using the words “adventure cats” when talking about these guys. I intended to try and normalize them to the outdoors and do small hikes/excursions when they get older, the term used in social media is load-bearing and feels a bit dated. Too “influencer” sounding and smacks of “supercats!” Instead, I’ll just use their original name: skogkatt (singular) or skogkatter (plural) or norsk skogkatt (for purists) , Norwegian for “forest cat” — which is just about right and doesn’t suggest mountain hikes or cats on kayaks. I mostly want to focus on just exploring the outdoors with one or both of these guys, not having an Instagram following or writing a how-to (although I will probably catalog my mistakes and successes here). There aren’t many places that will let cat’s come in, but I might explore the pet stores on occasion when there aren’t many dogs to cause issues. Maybe a cafe will let me in for a moment if I sit outside with my drink. “Walks with Grendel and Grímnir” has a bit of a hook, don’t you think?
I’m already wanting to meet these little folk. Late July suddenly seems like a lifetime away.
